Quiet Moments

I wrote this entry thinking I would post that very day and moment… So, here it is a few days later. But nonetheless as true.

So, I am on my own for a few hours. Two kids in school, one with a babysitter. I should be cleaning my dusty house… Or putting away mounds of laundry… Or getting rid of clutter… Or preparing dinner… Or cleaning up the yard… Or trying to find the floor in my kids’ room under all the toys, clothes, books, and what not. But lets face it, with a 17 month old tagging along how much will I really get done? I know there are super moms out there who manage to do it all, or at least appear that way. But that’s not me. I barely remember to brush my teeth!

So, where am I you might ask? In a perfectly wonderful hiding spot. The food is spectacular. All homemade. The music today is hip oldies with some Louisiana flare thrown in every once in awhile. The relatively large fridge case is filled with decadent desserts, wonder quiches, and superb salads. And minus the stale halloween decorations it is simply peaceful. I’ve come to this very cafe several times for take out, once for lunch and some painting time, and once to blog (that would be now).

I know my life could be harder. Way harder. But in these quiet moments when I get to be me again, I try to relax and breath deep, that is until I am overwhelmed with feelings of guilt. In fact, I need to run some errands before I pick up monkey number two. So, I should stop relaxing and jump back in to the river of business that keeps dragging me along.

But before I go, I need to tell you where to find this peaceful place. It’s Pamela’s Gourmet Cafe on Paper Mill Road across from Bank of America. It is totally worth coming to, but not at lunch time. There are only 8 tables and when the folks across the street let out for recess it is best to let them have their blissful time here. But anyway, this is my hiding spot. I have never shared a moment here with anyone. There is something to be said about having your own special place to celebrate the quite moments in your life.
